SE «Zorya»-«Mashproekt» has joined the Indian Government Program “Make in India”
In the mid-November, SE «Zorya»-«Mashproekt»’s delegation visited the Indian Navy IHQ in New Delhi. In the course of the negotiations, the parties finalized the format and scope of collaborative engagement within the framework of the “Make in India” global program and determined the areas of further cooperation.
In particular, the technical issues relating to usage of propulsion plants fitted with new 25MW and 32MW engines were considered for installing aboard the IN ships of perspective projects.
Apart from that, arrangements were reached as to development by SE «Zorya»-«Mashproekt»’s specialists of the proposals concerning the use of new engines in the projects of modernizing the propulsion plants fitted aboard the ships being presently operated by the Indian Navy.
During the visit, the negotiations with the state company Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) regarding the localization project on manufacture of separate components for marine gas turbine engines at the company’s production facilities came to the closing stage. By the results of the talks, the parties signed the Localization Agreement.
The Localization Project will allow moving the cooperation with the Indian side to a deeper level, with regard for the “Make in India” program, which envisages preferences for the importers whose products, at least partially, have been mastered by the Indian industry.
Oleksiy Zhukovets, Director General of SE “Zorya”-“Mashproekt” has commented on the key takeaways of the visit: “We have fixed the results of the 6-year long-lasting interaction with BHEL by the Agreement in terms of determining the collaboration format, technical capabilities, and the road ahead. The implementation of the Localization Project significantly increases competitive advantage of our products at the Indian market. We have considerably strengthened our positions and expanded the opportunities for participating in new projects. At present, there is every reason to speak about employment of our equipment for the IN ships in the long-term perspective”.
Partial localization will be carried out under the license contract with payment of respective royalty by BHEL in favor of SE “Zorya”-“Mashproekt”.
The total amount of Gas Turbines (about 100 Nos.) and Reduction Gears (around 70 Nos.) developed and produced by SE “Zorya”-“Mashproekt” are being operated aboard the IN ships of various classes. The parties are bound by a few decades of cooperation in the marine equipment production area.
